Have a Sharp ER-A320 cash register of my mother’s and can’t find a manual. Can you tell me how to turn off the receipt?
Thank you.
Hi Bonnie, yes I can tell you how to turn the receipt off. But today I’m on the road and not anywhere near my manuals. I will post that tomorrow. Sorry for the delay
OK Bonnie to turn off the receipt on the Sharp ER-A320 Cash Register you do the following:
1 Turn the key to the OP X/Z mode
2 Press the RCPT key
3. Turn key back to Reg and try.
To turn the receipt back on just do the same steps. Thats it!
I would appreciate it if you could help me . I need to program my taxes into my register. I live in Canada and need to add 6% GST and 8% PST to my machine. I had it programmed but had a malfunction and cannot figure out how to do it. I have 2 large buttons marked GST and GST/PST and I need to program them to add the taxes. Thanks in advance. I can be emailed at
There is several post that address the tax rate programming and the tax programming for the departments. You will need to program two tax rates in and make the departments taxable by the two rates.
here is the link to the department programming
http://cashregisterguys.com/blog/2006/10/02/sharp-er-a320-department-programming/
And the tax rate programming is

So remember you will be using tax rate 1 and tax rate 2
Hope this helps
I have a Sharp ER-A320 in use at a fraternal club. We offer complimentary drinks in some circumstances. We would like to program our register to track these comp drinks for inventory and auditing purposes, but still make the drawer balance after each shift. Can we program a key to record these comp drinks at the proper price, yet balance the drawer? I appreciate any assistance you can offer.
Hi Joe, yes the best way is to ring them up, but after each one do a 99.99% discount. That way the department sale will increase, but the discount will reduce the sales and cash etc. You will have to finalise each sale through cash even though it is zero.
When you set up the discount you have the option of setting it up item or sale. If item it will net the department, if sale it does not.
But that is the best way. There are other ways that would require a bit more.
Play with that and see what you think.
Thanks
In the process of programming HALO limits on my new er-a320, I did not finalize one of the items. I proceeded to the next bit of programming, everything seemed to be going along just fine. When I put the register in (REG) mode, no matter what key I press, I get an error tone and a big ugly E! In hoping the internal battery had not charged I unplugged the register for two days, hoping that all of my programming would vanish, no such luck. I have run all the programming reports the manual suggests and compared them to the other register I successfully programmed, and I note not a singal difference. So, now my question. Is there a way to clear out all the programming I have put in to the unit and put it back to factory state? Thanks for having this site, and hopfully you’ll be able to help me…
Sorry for the delay. Sounds like you did not finish in the programming mode. So first step is to turn the key back to program and press the CA/AT (Cash Key) and then go back to to the Reg position and see if you get it back.
If that does not work there is a service reset function. You will need the service key that is not included in the purchase. With that key you can return the register to factory default and start again.
We sell the service key for $10.00 plus shipping. If you want to buy it let me know and I’ll post the directions for a reset. 1-800-863-2274 and Misty can help you with the key order
I just got a Sharp ER-A320 Cash register. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get it to work, and pushed something, so that now it won’t stop printing. I need it to stop so that I can program and use it. Please help
hi i have a sharp xe-a201 i lost the manual and i don’t remember how to program the date, time, and the tax if you would could you help me out. thanks,
carman
I got a power fail last week, and my sharp ER-A320 is not working any more. So I’d like to try reprogram it.
Could you please let me know how to do it?
I would appriciate.
Lauren, sorry for the delay in responding. We would need more detail to help. If you have to re-program it your rechargeable batteries are dead and it will need to be programmed everytime it becomes unplugged or a power fail. Get those batteries replaced first
Carmen for the Sharp XE-a201 manual look here http://www.cashregisterguys.com/sharpmanuals.html
Hi. I was just recently hired at this cafe with a ER-A530. And it looks like multiple people tried programming it in different ways. The Key No. positions are a mix of the factory default and consecutive numbers (starting at 001) from the bottom left. So evidently I have 2 buttons doing the same thing.
How can I either: re-arrange the key no or Start from scratch.
A lot of useless numbers are on the machine and some useful functions missing.
Thanks
OK, that machine can be a bugger if you don’t place the keys correctly. I’m out of the office right now and don’t have a manual with me so I don’t recall the job # off the top of my head. But you need to do the key placement programming. You can do this with PLU’s and Dept. Most cases items are PLU’s so you asign them to a key location. The key location #’s probably start with 001, 002, etc in the order you decribed. And yes if you don’t know what you are doing you can end up with the same item placed all over the place.
And yes you can start over but it would require a master reset and then be prepared to spend 3 to 6 hours programming depending on the # of items that need to be set up. It can take two to five minutes per item so you can see if you have 100 items that can be awhile.
A master reset takes a service key which are not included with the machine and few people have. The best thing to do is to take program reading of key placements, PLU’s Depts, etc and see what you have. Should be at the end of the programming section of the book for program reading. That might help you make sense of what you have got going on.
Hope that helps
Dave
Hi, Can you tell me how to Enable the decimal so I can enter a sale such as 4.5 gls of a product ? Sharp er a320. At this time If I use it I get a beep. I cannot find anything in the manual.
Thanks in Advance. Maggie
I have an SHARP er a330 which I purchased from a Franchise submarine shop. I was able to modify departments and taxes over the existing layout but I am having difficulty in a couple areas. Please help with these items:
a. I do not have a working PO button.
b. I am unable to toggle the recipt printing using OPxz
c. Unable to enter training mode using code 2910 .
d. I do not know how to change the Validation Information. All that the book says is “determined by programming” with no instructions
Aaron, well that is quite a list.
A. If the PO button is there but won’t work there can be many reasons. But a quick easy one is pull the top off and make sutre it is a live switch. Sometimes people will kill a button by pulling the stem
B. Probably missing a step
C. I’ve never used the training mode. It may be turned off in the service mode?
D. Not much to change in the Validation? Are your trying to turn it off? In what way do you want to change it?
Maggie try entering the qty first like 4.5 then press the @/For Key then the amount per gallon $3.99 then the dept button. So to recap
4.5 @ $3.99 Dept
Thant should work!
What is the difference between the tax table programing and the tax rate programing for the er-a320?
How do i program the tax on my sharp register. ER2386S
Hi i just bought one of sharp ER-A320 I like to erase previous transactions and reprogram it for my business is there any way to reset to factory setting
thanks
Ali, yes you need a service key and you can do a master reset. That will wipe out all the machine’s memory back to the factory defaults. Service keys do not come with machines. You may want a service manual as well however I think I have one of those posted for free at http://www.cashregisterguys.com
You can also call us and but a service key.
Dave
To program the tax on a 2386s I think is
Pgm position with key
241 . @ 1 @ xx.xxx Subtotal 1 cash
But that is from memory. Please follow at you own risk! I know it is very close to that is it is wrong.
Sorry I just don’t have a manual for that machine handy
Rob had asked what is the differance between a tax rate and table. A tax rate is a simple rate applied to everything taxable as where a tax table is a scalable tax applied at different dollar amounts. Like maybe the first 5 dollars is taxed at a certail amount but after that it drops. I have been in the register biz now for twenty years and I have never ever had the reason to program a table. Only have programmed flat rates and I have shipped registers all over the country, but they must use it somewhere!
Hello~~ i wanna ask how can i check daily report on LCD screen, i dont want print it out. thx
You did not say what register model. If you were asking about the A320 that is not available
