SAM4s has released their newest register series which includes the SPS-320, the SPS-340 and the SPS-345

All three of these models are cutting edge designed for retail and restaurants. Lots of interfaces and options while being very affordable.

SAM4s SPS-500 or the Sharp UP-800 series

After the Sharp UP-820F register was released I thought it would kill every other high end cash register. It was ahead of its time and full of features. Turned out I was wrong about that. Not long after the UP series was introduced SAM4s released the SPS-500 series which is made up of the following models

The release of the SPS-500 series quickly slowed of our sales of the Sharp UP 800 line and we began selling many more of the SPS-500 series. Here are a couple of the features that we like more in the SPS 500 line.

The SPS 500 series is the best cash register we have ever seen. This machine series can only be beaten by a more expensive POS system or maybe Sharp is lurking out there with a new model?

SAM4s ER-180 and ER-180T

SAM4s who seems to be the only major cash register company still coming out with new models released 2 new models a few months ago. They are the SAM4s ER-180 and the ER-180T

Both of these two models are entry level registers and are very basic. The two only differ in a couple ways. The ER180 employs an impact printer while its nearly identical twin features gfast thermal printing. While the two models have a few more small features that are not the same for the most part they are very good solid commercial grade cash registers.

I envsion this registers being used in Gift Shops, Espresso Stands, Snack Bars, Taverns, Quick Service Restaurants, Ice Cream Shops, Popcorn Stands, and maybe retail Kisosks in Shopping Malls.

What can’t they do? Well NO Credit Card Interface, NO PC Interface, No Scanner, etc but keep in mind very low cost and entry level!

Tax programming on the Sharp ER-A320

First do this at your own risk. This advice is worth what you paid for it and there are no warranties.

To set the Sales tax 8.6 percent

Turn key to PGM Mode
Enter 2711 Press the Decimal Press the @/For Button
Enter 1 (for tax rate 1, enter 2 for tax 2, 3 for 3, 4 for 4)
Press the @/For Button
enter 86000
Press the @/For button
Enter 1 (asumming everything over $0.01 is taxable in a taxable department)
Press the Cash Button

That’s it your done, it should have printed a little receipt to confirm it reads 8.6% and is for the tax rate you meant to change (remember there are 4 tax rates in this cash register)

Make sure you turn the key to Reg to test! Make sure you test this and void that test sale!

This does not make a department taxable or non taxabale this sets the tax rate (Tax1 in this case)

In case you have the manual this was all on page 46 and I always job based programming not direct. Never ever use a tax table unless you were told to! I have never told anyone to in my life. Not sure who uses this but someone must!!!!

Ink Rollers for the Sharp ER-A320 and others

Yes we have the hard to find (not around here we got a ton of them) IR-90/91 Ink Roller that works in the SHarp ER-A320,ERA310,ERA330, Sharp ER-2386, ER-2386s,ER-2396,ER-2396s and many other cash registers. We got’em right here

ER-650 Register from SAM4s

The SAM4s ER-650 came onto the market several years ago and it seems it is still one of the market leaders. Though SAM4s has released a new Top Dog in the SPS-500 series the ER-650 still is selling and performing very well.

I think the ER-650 was the start of a cash register revolution and introduced menu driven programming and interfaces like the credit card and gift card. If you already have a ER-650 and need another one I would suggest staying with the model you know. If you don’t already have a cash register while the ER-650 is still an awesome machine the SPS-500 series took over where the ER650 left off so check them both out before making a purchase.
